Let’s Go to Prom — My Prom Story + Dress Picks

It’s that time of year when students across the Australia are at the end of another school year, and after all the intense cramming fora select few comes one of the most exciting moments of teenage life: Prom season.

Prom is a time to celebrate the end of secondary school and the beginning of adulthood. It’s a chance to dress up, have fun, and dance the night away. People spend the entire day getting ready, and parents often get just as carried away as their children!

I almost missed my prom because I was grounded for being a spoilt brat. My mum had enough of my attitude and decided that staying home would teach me a lesson. In the end, I had to take a cab to the venue all by myself, missing the limo ride with my mates and most of the evening. Luckily, I made it just in time for the final dance and managed to get my photo taken, even if it was without the group.

Finding my prom dress was another adventure. My mum and I went from shop to shop searching for “the one”. I love shopping, but that day I was desperate to just pick a dress and go home. I was exhausted after trying on what felt like a hundred dresses, it was a full-day mission!

Being the fashion fairy I like to think I am, I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite prom dress picks from some beautiful stores. They might be a little pricey, but they’re totally worth it. I’ve also included a few accessories and shoe ideas to complete your look.
